Frequently Asked Questions
Insurance & Tax Questions — Answered
Common questions about Newburst Financial's insurance and tax services in Valley Stream, Nassau County. Can't find your answer? Call us at (516) 123-4567 or send us a message.
What is the minimum auto insurance required in New York State?
New York State requires a minimum of 25/50/10 liability coverage, plus Personal Injury Protection (PIP) of $50,000 and Uninsured Motorist coverage. However, we almost always recommend higher limits to fully protect your assets in Nassau County's busy traffic.
How does an independent insurance agency differ from a captive agent?
An independent agency like Newburst Financial works with 20+ different carriers, comparing rates and coverage to find the best deal for you. A captive agent (like a State Farm or Allstate office) can only sell policies from their one single company.
What documents do I need to bring to my tax appointment?
For a standard personal tax return, you'll need: government-issued photo ID, Social Security card (or ITIN letter), all W-2 and 1099 forms, last year's tax return if available, and records of any deductions (mortgage interest, charitable donations, business expenses). For self-employed individuals, also bring profit/loss records and any estimated tax payment receipts. Our full checklist is available on the Tax Services page.
Do I need flood insurance if I live in Nassau County?
Nassau County includes many FEMA-designated flood zones, particularly in coastal and low-lying areas of Long Island. Standard homeowners insurance does NOT cover flood damage. If your home is in a high-risk flood zone, your mortgage lender may require flood insurance. Even if it's not required, flood coverage is strongly recommended for Nassau County properties. Newburst Financial can check your flood zone status and quote NFIP or private flood policies.
Can I get both my insurance and taxes handled at the same appointment?
Yes — and that's exactly what makes Newburst Financial unique. Many of our clients schedule a single visit to review their insurance coverage and prepare their taxes. Our agents are cross-trained and can handle both services in one appointment, saving you significant time. Call us or use the online booking form to schedule a combined insurance + tax consultation.
